It is good to be home

I am truly enjoying being back in San Jose.  Our days are filled with lots of errands and enjoying the kids, our friends and going to familiar places.  Last week we took a ride on Caltrain to San Francisco for lunch on the Embarcadero just because the train depot is close to us in Santa Clara and we love San Francisco.  That same day we attended a Sharks game with Brian & Barb – Go Sharks!  They won 5 to 1!  We had great seats a few rows up from their goal posts!  We even got to see Amy and Nick who had seats in the section above us!

I make dinner for the girls about once a week so that is really fun for me and great for them!

We took a trip to see my family this past weekend.  Amy and Nick went with us and enjoyed riding on my dads new 4-wheel vehicle.   My brother is doing so good even though he started radiation last week.  I went with him to his appointment on Monday to see and photograph the contraption that he is strapped into before they radiate!  The mask goes over his face and down to his chest is made out of white mesh that he can see through.  It looks like it will be a really cool Halloween costume for one of his grand-kids when this is all over!  He is learning to use his prosthesis and talks really well!  No more pen and paper!

Whenever we visit my parents we always bring home lots of goodies.  This time we have enough pomegranates to set up a booth and sell them!  Now I need to find a good way to use them!  We won’t need to buy any fruit for at least a month!

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone, and on to the craziness of the Christmas Holidays!  Happy Shopping!.  And, no I won’t be out on Thursday!  or Friday, probably won’t even get out until at least Monday!

Yippy! I’m free!

Jumping into the HHR  and leaving Paul in Yuba City to work on Friday morning I headed to Jamestown to meet up with the girls for some R & R and of course lots of laughs, wine, shopping and way too much great food!  We stayed in a cute B & B, The McCaffrey House near the town of Twain Harte where Stephanie and Michael, the Inn Keepers took excellent care of us.  We enjoyed wonderful breakfasts each morning and tasted some local wines in the afternoon.  Our rooms looked out over the forest where I sat and enjoyed the many birds.  I know Paul and I get to enjoy scenery like this most days but to have a whole bed to myself, someone else cooking and cleaning,  all the hot water I can use and spending 3 days laughing with friends was even more relaxing than my everyday!

The girls!

Friday night after wine and cheese we took the 30 minute drive to Columbia where we enjoyed a local theater group performing Harvey.  What a fun story about Elwood and his Pooka, Harvey!  I had no idea of the story or what a Pooka was and was completely entertained by these actors and the story.  The Fallon Theater was very cozy and comfortable.

Waking to the smell of bacon we arrived about 9:30 in the dining room, well most of us did! for a huge breakfast all at the hands of Stephanie and of course Michael.  Pushing ourselves out the door we took a drive to  the village of Murphy’s where they were celebrating The Day of the Dead!  I didn’t even know what that was really all about.  There were lots of people dressed in costumes, lots of face painting and most shops had a shrine complete with skulls and candles!

A coffee, the paper and Day of the Dead!

We did a lot of shopping, wine tasting and lost Lani!  which is to be expected except this time her phone went dead so we couldn’t even use technology to find her!  She had given up and was ordering lunch when she finally spotted  Vikki, who had been running up and down main street looking!  Yeah, we were reunited and finished the afternoon with  lunch and some more wine tasting!

Before we lost her!
