Do things have to get worse before they get better? It’s a good thing!

Immediately after purchasing the home in Campbell for Amy & Stephanie plans started for the addition that would make the house an even better purchase.  We broke ground on Thursday, May 9 with what will be a new master bathroom and a nice closet for Amy.

It's only 200 sq. ft!

When we arrived on Thursday this is what I saw in the front yard!  Really! I was thinking a small tractor thing to dig the small hole that will be the 200 sq. ft. that we are adding.

That was day 1 or the 2013 remodel!  Construction can be messy but the process is really fun.  Everyday we arrive to see what progress our Contractor has had.  Many days this week the progress was lots more digging but soon the forms went in.

While Joe is working hard, we are going about our days working on details of the project.  Paul has scheduled the PG&E repair for this weekend with PG&E and the City of Campbell for inspections.  Hopefully all goes well and we have new power on Monday.  I have been shopping for new bath features and Carpeting for the entire house.  We do take breaks to get out and enjoy the fabulous weather in Campbell.  I golfed 3 times this week – not very well but I did enjoy the walk!  We even got out for a SJ Giants game – Love the hot dogs and beer!

If you were retired….

Some days I just have to take a step back and realize exactly what we have chosen to do with our lives.  We moved our lives into a 36′ motorhome and hit the road at age 52 and more days than not I feel very blessed to be living this life.  Today was definitely one of those days…

Just because, we decided to take a drive to San Francisco by way of Skyline Blvd through the Santa Cruz Mt’s with a stop at Alice’s Restaurant for a pricey burger and a little peek at 60’s nostalgia.  Growing up I always thought the restaurant was named after the Arlo Guthrie song but never really thought about it.  Paul being the curious guy he is did some research while we waited for our burger and now we know the song was not about “Our Alice’s” but about a restaurant in Massachusetts!   It doesn’t matter because the people watching is still awesome.

We made it to San Francisco and decided to spend the afternoon in Golden Gate Park.

The weather was perfect and lots of people were enjoying the park.  There are so many places to get lost inside the park  far away from the craziness of the City.  We decided to check out the Geo-cache app and we found this cute little guy resting in a crevice of a huge tree.

We keep finding new places and interesting finds with this little hobby.  We had to pass on several in the Santa Cruz Mtns because we have no interest in leaving the trails and braving poison oak!  We have found some new favorite spots while looking for a cache.

We ended our afternoon with a picnic dinner while watching the surfers at Ocean Beach.  Another perfect day of retirement.
