Branson is not CA

Sunset today was beautiful and the whole sky was lit up in pink for about 10 minutes.

Friday the 13th was pretty cool

We have been here just over a week and have made several observances so far about the differences from CA.

Every show we have been to so far take time out of the show to acknowledge Veterans by saluting them and asking them to rise so the audience can applaud them.  They also speak openly about God, country, and being grateful for what we have.  Quite a difference from what I am use to.  I like it, however being from CA where everything is so politically correct it felt odd at first but one entertainer summed it up by saying “Branson is a place where you can say Jesus without offending anyone”  It seems to me that that is the way things should be no matter what or who you are speaking about.

Something else that I have observed is the weather!  Did I mention it only got up to 35 degrees yesterday!  I was wearing shorts and tanktop last week when we got here.  I am looking forward to it warming back up and they promise me it will.

People also seem to really enjoy the small things in life. (and I am not sure if this is unique to Branson as I haven’t had enough free time to really observe in CA or anywhere else yet!) The people here seem to spend a lot of time just relaxing along the banks of the lake.  You will see whole families or just couples just sitting along the banks, fishing, reading or skipping rocks.  Last week (cause no one is out this week!  remember 35 degrees) on Friday afternoon I saw several groups sitting along the banks each doing their own thing but somehow together – it was pretty cool to just sit back and watch these families interact in such a simple, cheap way.

And, People here are really into their fishing!!!  There is a bass tournament in town this week and everyone is talking about it.  Paul & I don’t get it.  Especially the sponsors on some of the boats.

These are the boats with sponsors and they are lined up exactly perfectly the same.  I think they got measuring tapes out to make sure each trailer’s wheel was in the same location!

What does Febreeze have to do with Bass fishing?

This is one of the boats and tow vehicle; What exactly does Febreeze have to do with Bass fishing?

I still miss California everyday and tell anyone that will listen about “Home” but I am so happy that I am out here and getting to see how the rest of America lives and learn about what is important to them and how they see life.

Happy weekend to everyone!

Yes, people in Texas love their bass fishing too… everyone goes to Bass Pro Shop to shop for everything fishing and hunting… crazy.
There is big money on prizes for the biggest fish…
    Glad you are having fun.
