Some of the reasons…..

Wednesday, July 31st, 2013

Destination is a big circle up the coast of California, into Oregon and Washington and then a ferry ride over to Vancouver Island and back into Canada.  We will travel through Jasper National Park to Edmonton all before it starts getting cold!  Then we will start heading south into Calgary and into Eastern Washington.  For now that is as far as we have planned!

Driving north through downtown San Francisco and across the Golden Gate Bridge is always a bit exciting in the Motorhome but we made it one more time.  The bridge was beautiful.  We only made it to Willits and spent the night in the Sherwood Casino Parking lot!  It was very quiet!

The redwoods are just as beautiful as ever.  The weather was cool and lots of smoke in the air.

Majestic!

Majestic!

Sometimes I have my camera out and sometimes I just don’t have time.  We saw a recumbent bicyclist towing a mini trailer that must be his bicycle powered motorhome!  And then we saw this woman driving this!

FlamingosI couldn’t believe it would even start, but it did and she was traveling happily in traffic!

And finally this is one of the reasons I love this life!

Today was long walks on the beach and reading my book!

Before we go!

Today was a check all the spots and make sure everything is working cause Paul and Denise are leaving in the morning!  We put some finishing touches on the addition like making sure the sink drain is not leaking – that was after we tried to leave about 9 pm!  We didn’t make it 5 miles and we get a call!

We actually did some normal activities besides construction like washing cars and picking vegetable from the garden.

Cucumbers!

Cucumbers!

The cucumbers are going crazy and we don’t even eat that many cucumbers!  We found that all 3 dogs think they are terrific!

Before we can leave we have to celebrate birthdays cause we have several coming up!  Tomorrow is Stephanies 25th birthday and on Thursday Nick will be 28!  Next week I will be ….35!  So we got some friends together and played some Bocce Ball in Los Gatos!

The goodbyes are said and we are hitting the road again!  Next stop Oregon on our way to Canada until it gets cold!  Keep in touch!

We did it!

12 weeks and we are putting the finishing touches on the addition!

That’s Paul and Amy about 1/2 way through tiling the shower.

I started the painting almost two weeks ago and Amy is finally putting the finishing touches on the door trim.

We can do Granite too!

We have done some tiling before but never Granite and look at that fancy sink and faucet!

This is that empty space between the closet and the shower!  We made good use of it by installing some shelving that Amy will put all kinds of cute things I am sure.

That is only 1/2 of her closet

That is only 1/2 of her closet

If she ever fills her closets she will be able to open a store of her own!  There is a full walk in closet next to the bathroom with double rods on one side with two sets of 24″ shelves for foldables and shoes and on the other side is a full length hanging rod with shelves above and we found a nice cubby area to put those things you never need but can’t throw out!  And there is a full size linen closet in the bathroom along with the original 1/2 wall closet that was already in the bedroom!  Geeze…..

Some pretty good tile work and I have the sore back to prove it

And we do custom work – nothing but the best for our girls!

I told you she would decorate them up!

And that is before she has had a chance to get out and shop!

And she is all moved in!

We have not done much to the rest of the house during this construction but we did manage to give Stephanie’s familyroom a facelift!

New carpet, a tile entry and a new couch!

And now for the outside!

This week I have been covered in primer, paint, thin-set, tile dust and more dirt!  We have gotten the shower tiled, the closet painted and a really big hole in the front yard!  Yesterday the contractor dug up the sewer connection and the hole is deep enough for him to stand in and be below surface!  It looks like he is either digging us a really small swimming hole or a grave!

The bathroom is starting to shape-up with the tile on the walls of the shower!

This has been a very physical week and each evening I am not sure I will be able to do it in the morning.  Then morning comes and I drag my body out of bed, hop in the car and drive to our little project.  I am still really tired but I see the end in site for this trip and that motivates me to keep going because soon we will be on the road again!

Hurry up already!!!!

We have spent three months in Campbell and the end is in site!!!  The addition has been a lot of work, really dirty work, really hard work but it is coming to an end and the results are really cool!

And that is how it has been going!  The siding is finished, all the windows are in place and we passed all our inspections today so now we can sheetrock and then the fun begins!  Next week will be painting, tiling, closet organizers, lighting  and then carpet!  Our exit date is July 30!  Wish us luck, this is going to be a busy two weeks!
