Family Vacation Finally!

A perfect vacation seems impossible but it can happen.
Stephanie and Audra arrive and we take off to our camp that we reserved for the week
It isn’t perfect and it isn’t home but it is right on the lake with a dock and the weather is perfect.  We picked up the keys, drove the 6 miles up route 12 and pulled into paradise about 3:15.  We were unpacked and off to pick up the boat.  A quick trip back to town for a couple forgotten items and back to relax.

arriving by boat

We had our feet dangling into the lake by 5 pm-  dangling because I forgot my swimsuit!  A nice boat ride around 4th lake in a beautiful boat Paul’s sisters friend let us borrow for the week!

Sunday Paul and I headed back to the rv which is 12 miles away and picked up my swimsuit and some cables that Paul thought he might use to hijack some internet!  Our phones have pretty good service on the tip of the dock and the internet works in a couple bedrooms- slightly!  Hence I’m writing this to post next week!!!!  Anyway we returned and the girls were already swimming and I quickly joined them.  We spent the day floating and just hanging out.

This is shaping up to be perfect!  Amy and Nick will arrive tomorrow and then our summer vacation will really have a chance to be perfect!

I learned to Kayak this week! Lots of fun

Paul left to pick Amy and Nick up in Utica, NY where they will be arriving by train from a weekend trip to New York City!  The girls and I got right down to the lake!  I am cherishing every minute the sun is out because here in the Adirondacks you never know when that will turn to rain!  We all learned to Kayak this week and Audra was the first to dump over!  Right on the beach!!!!

Amy and Nick are here!  Perfect!  Get those suitcases unpacked lets get this party started!  Amy and Nick took a kayak ride!

Duke is here visiting for the afternoon as dogs are not allowed to stay in the camp.  Duke is perfect so we have him come visit.  He is being loved this week by Ethan (Paul’s nephew) who is doing an awesome job.  I can tell because when Judy and Ethan came to pick him up  he ran right to their car!  No hesitation.  On another visit, we took him back to their house and he ran looking for Ethan!  Sad face for Paul and I, just like when our girls ran to the babysitter!!!

Monday night the 6 of us joined Paul’s sisters, Nancy, Susan, Carol and Judy along with David, Paul’s other nephew and a friend of Susan’s for the community Bingo night at the fire hall!  Nick had never played Bingo!!! The girls hadn’t played since summer camp in the 90’s!

We had three winners!  Congrats to Paul, Audra and Carol!  I won last week!

Our biggest winner! $20.

Our biggest winner! $20.

We returned to our camp which is right next to the resort, Four Season that Paul’s parents owned in the 80’s.  Walking distance to Daiker’s Inn which Paul and most of his siblings wore a path to when they lived here, so we took the kids over for a beer!

Daikers

Lots of fun.  Daikers is where Paul and I had a second wedding reception for all his family to celebrate with us so it was fun to share those memories!  Everything looks lots fancier now but it is still a cool bar right on the lake with docking for boats to stop in.

Tuesday was an unplanned day , our last as family reunion stuff starts tomorrow.    Back in the lake for Stephanie, Audra and me.  Paul took Amy and Nick along with Angela and Mike who were the delivery service for Paul’s sister Carol from Selma NC.  Angela and Mike are keeping our home on wheels company this week and joining in with some Roberts Reunion excitement!

Cruising Fun!

Before the boat ride we had a wonderful family breakfast and toasted Amy and Nicks engagement.  This was the first time we were all together since he proposed in March.  I’m so excited about their wedding next summer.

I took a short kayak trip but today there is quite a bit of wind so I quickly returned to find a lawn chair and watch the lake from shore.

In the afternoon the kids left Paul and I alone and met David at the Enchanted Forest for some water slide excitement.
Tomorrow the real fun starts
