Enjoying a beautiful evening, Memorial Day

Enjoying some sunshine

Westport celebrates the day with a blessing of the fleet and a celebration at the local war memorial.  Here in the park we celebrate all weekend with lots of campers.  We even give them a old fashioned hayride!  Well there is hay in the trailer and it is being pulled by a tractor!

The fog burned off, rain stopped, clouds left and all we were left with was a beautiful evening.  About 8:45 pm I realized all this and decided to hurry to the beach to watch the sunset.  Driving the 1/2 mile to the beach access I had to stop so the deer could cross the road.  I made it in plenty of time, the sun doesn’t set here until about 9:10 pm.  And beautiful it was.

looking over the dunes to the East is Westport Marina

When we arrived there was 2 surfers still catching waves and a guy and his dog enjoying the evening also.  Duke loved the puppy and they ran on the dunes until the sun set.

Hi, Whats your name?

May your Memorial Day be beautiful

We are still here in the AZ heat. We are waiting for our appointment with Tiffin in July, then we are off to Alabama. Hope to see you soon!! Enjoy your summer!! We found a beautiful park called the Arizonian in Gold Canyon. We rent yearly so we can have a shed and the dogs love the huge state land to run wild.

You guys are making us homesick! This is where we spent most of our vacations with family and just the two of us after the kids left home. In fact, Robin’s cousin is the pharmacist at the little drug store in Long Beach.

Our favorite campground is Greyland Beach State Park. That’s south of you. And, yes, folks don’t realize when they look at the map how much driving there is to see the sites, and you won’t see everything. Although it sounds like you are trying!

Don’t forget to head over to Astoria OR (over the bridge) and have breakfast at Pig and Pancake!

It looks like you are having a marvelous summer. We are back in Cherokee, NC, but hope to workamp in the Oregon/Washington area next summer. Can’t wait to get back to our place in Yuma. Come visit us.

Yep, sounds like coastal weather. Now you know what we meant by that…I thought you guys were going to be on the beach, bummer that you have to drive over to it. Enjoy your summer and maybe we can get together on your way back south. And don’t feel bad, it’s back to cold and wet here. It warmed up for a few days and now we are running about 15 degrees below average for this time of year. Still getting snow in the mountains. No sign of warmth in the next 7 days and they are calling for rain.
